Who is this course for?

This course is aimed at Yoga teachers who want to know how to teach pregnant students and children. In both cases the therapeutic benefits of Yoga are accepted, but the instruction must be adjusted to their specific needs.

Why Yoga for pregnancy

Childbirth is a profound rite of transition.
Preparing for birth is an act of self-discovery.
Pain is an inevitable part of childbirth.
If you regularly practice techniques to aid delivery, you will be better able to handle childbirth.
Women have the right to to choose where and how to deliver.
The future father is assists greatly when he gives moral support and affection.
For parents, pregnancy, birth and postpartum are times of learning.
Preparing for birth is also preparing to be parents.

Course Objectives

Study of the key issues that govern pregnancy.
Most common problems presented by students in this stage.
Solutions to these problems.
How to teach the correct postures and how to adjust them.
How to identify the limitations of students while performing the postures.
Learn the specific adaptations for each posture.
Contraindications - (why certian poses may be inappropriate with pregnant women).
Adjustments, substitutions or aids that are used in classes.

Pregnancy

How to teach a class for pregnant women.
The first class approach to pregnancy.
Structure of the classes. Design.
Breathing techniques.
Warm ups.
Teaching guide: Rhythm of the class, vocabulary, humor, repetition of instructions.
Relaxation and visualization.
The psychological state of the pregnant woman.

Certification

Certification is obtained after passing the theoretical and practical assessments, resulting in a Practice of Hatha Yoga Teacher diploma.

Students may choose to resit the exams at one of the AIPYS centers, if necessary to complete their diploma requirements.

In the case of not passing the exams, a Certificate of Attendance will be awarded.
